A lifelong love of all things flora and fauna combined with a love of working with colours and shapes has inspired me to translate the beauty of Mother Nature into wall and wearable art, using slightly abstract forms, impressionistic shapes and vibrant colours, all working together to exaggerate the natural environment around me. I work very much from intuition and experimentation and over time have developed a unique style. Having worked with most mediums I particularly enjoy working with Oil Paints or Inks for intenseness, purity, freshness and playful colour interactions. I am fortunate to have raised a family with my husband on a semi-rural property in the picturesque Yarra Valley area which is frequented by the beautiful wild birds and animals of the area. These creatures are a constant joy and never fail to lift my spirits and inspire me. All my artworks are original, from the first inception of an idea right through to the finished piece. My artworks are created from the heart with emotional and environmental influences contributing to their creation. There is a piece of myself in each and every artwork as I continue my ever evolving journey of creativity. Complimentary to my framed artworks I have a passion for creating wearable art. Foliage collected from around my home studio is used for creating chromatically beautiful plant print silk scarves. The environment around me is the inspiration for the dramatic and unique freestyle painted silk scarves which just ooze drama and colour.
A selection of my hand painted scarves are on display and available for purchase at Surfcoast Gallery, Torquay. www.surfcoastgallery.com.au
